Bitcoin rallied to about $71,800 early Wednesday, a jump of more than 5% from Tuesday afternoon and a head-spinning reversal from this weekend.
The gains in the world's largest cryptocurrency came while stock markets in the U.S. and Europe showed signs of stabilizing as the conflict in the Middle East entered its fifth day.
Bitcoin originally slid to roughly $63,000 after the U.S. and Israel attacked Iran.
"For many investors, this move came out of nowhere," 10x Research said. The digital-asset analysis firm had previously argued that bearish bets against bitcoin had become overcrowded, putting it on track for a rebound.
